Free Entry Will Be Available In Tajmahal, Shahjahan's Urs Is Starting; Crypt With Real Graves Will Be Opened

Jagran correspondent, Agra. The three-day 371st Urs of Emperor Shahjahan will be celebrated at Tajmahal from Thursday. The Urs will begin at 2 pm with Azaan and opening of the door of the crypt located in the main mausoleum. Tourists and pilgrims will be able to see the tombs of Shahjahan and Mumtaz located in the basement.

These tombs open only during Urs. Tourists and pilgrims will get free entry on the first and second day of Urs from 2 pm to sunset and on the third day from the morning from opening till closing of the monument. Shahjahan's Urs is celebrated in the month of Rajab of the Islamic Hijri calendar. This time Shahjahan's Urs will be celebrated from 15 to 17 January.

On the first day of Urs, the door of the crypt located in the main mausoleum will be opened at 2 pm. After Azaan, there will be a ritual of Ghusl on the tombs of Shahjahan and Mumtaz located in the basement. There will be recitation of Quran, Milad Sharif and Mushaira. On the second day on Friday, the Sandal ceremony will take place at 2 pm.

Qawwali will echo at the main tomb. On the third day, Saturday morning, there will be Quran Khwani and Kul ritual. Tabarruk will be distributed. After this, fans will be provided along with bedsheets. Fatiha will be read. Langar will be distributed in the forecourt. Additional entry fee of Rs 200 will not be applicable to the main mausoleum during Urs.

Taj Mahal's senior conservation assistant Prince Vajpayee said that no new tradition will be allowed to be started in Urs. To maintain the arrangements, double shift duty of the employees has been imposed.

Taj Mahal will open on Friday

Taj Mahal remains closed on Friday due to weekly closure. The weekly closure on Friday will not be applicable during Urs. Local namazis will be allowed entry for namaz from 12:30 noon. Pilgrims and tourists will be allowed entry from 2 pm onwards.
