Ganga Ghat of Munger, Marine Drive will pass through this side

Jagran correspondent, Munger. Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav presented the budget of the state government in the Bihar Assembly on Tuesday, in which budgetary provisions have been made for many important projects related to the development of Munger district. With the implementation of these schemes, the pace of development in the district is expected to accelerate.

In the budget for the financial year 2026-27, provision has been made for the construction of Ganga path from Munger to Sabour via Sultanganj. Along with this, the projects of Munger-Mirzachaiki four-lane road project, the plan to deliver Ganga water to Badua and Kharagpur lakes related to Munger and Banka districts and the development and upgradation of Shringi Rishi Ashram under Munger Forest Division have also been included in the budget. The picture of Munger is expected to change once all these schemes come on the ground. This will not only boost road connectivity and tourism, but will also bring about massive changes in the agriculture sector.

Ganga water will be transported from Sultanganj to Kharagpur Lake and Badua Reservoir during flood days, which will be used for irrigation of Rabi crops. This will increase the production of Rabi crop and also increase the income of farmers.

Ganga path will be 83 km long

The state government has approved a total of 266 road and bridge projects at a cost of approximately Rs 38,732.54 crore in the last one year. These include 137 projects worth Rs 23,974.97 crore under 'Pragati Yatra' and 129 other projects worth Rs 14,757.57 crore. One of these is the Munger-Sabaur Ganga Path Project to be built in two phases at a cost of Rs 9,970 crore.

In the first phase, a 42 km long Ganga path will be constructed from Safiabad in Munger to Sultanganj via Bariyarpur and Ghorghat, while in the second phase, a 40.80 km long road will be constructed from Sultanganj to Sabour via Bhagalpur. This will be the state's first project based on hybrid annuity model. Under this model, 40 percent of the project cost during construction will be borne by the state government, while the remaining 60 percent will have to be arranged by the concerned company itself.

51.16 thousand hectares of land will be irrigated

Under the Kharagpur and Badua Reservoir Transfer Project proposed by the state government, the surplus water of Ganga during floods will be transported to Badua and Kharagpur reservoirs. Approximately Rs 1,866.11 crore will be spent on this project. Through this, irrigation facility will be available in total 51.16 thousand hectare area of Munger and Banka districts. This will increase the production of both Rabi and Kharif crops and farmers will become financially stronger. Apart from this, development, upgradation and renovation work of Shringi Rishi Ashram located under Munger Forest Division has also been proposed in the budget.
