Dust flying on the road in Bulandshahr Road Industrial Area. Awakening
Jagran correspondent, Sahibabad. Even after the imposition of GREP (Graded Response Action Plan) restrictions, the pollution level in the district remains in the severe category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 414 on Sunday. Except Sanjay Nagar, the air of Loni, Vasundhara and Indirapuram also remained in severe category. People are facing various problems including breathing and eye irritation. Ghaziabad was the third most polluted city in the country after Greater Noida and Noida.
Officials of more than 20 departments including the Pollution Control Board are proving to be unsuccessful in preventing pollution. No specific action is being taken against those who spread pollution. Khanapuri is being done in the name of action. Construction material is being sold in the open at various places on the roadside. Due to lack of spraying on the roads, dust is flying.
Vehicles that have completed their life are running on the roads. Illegal factories are promoting pollution. If the grape restrictions were followed, people could have got some relief. Now people do not see any hope. Many plans are being made to prevent pollution, but they are not being followed.
Loni's wind is the worst
Loni's air remains the worst. The air AQI severe category here was recorded at 445. Whereas Vasundhara's AQI was recorded at 433. People of all areas have to live in poisonous air.
hotspot marked action none
Six hotspots have been identified for pollution control in the district. Loni is also included in these. These hotspots were marked so that action could be taken on priority, but even here officials of any department are not seen active. All are planned on paper. No work is visible on the ground.
Action is going on against those who spread pollution. Illegal factories are being sealed continuously. Four teams are engaged to enforce the rules of Grape.
