Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. A girl started talking to a property dealer from Doon through a dating app and then cheated him of Rs 76.90 lakh on the pretext of investment. A case has been registered in this matter with the cyber crime police. The police have started investigating the accounts.
Raipur resident Animesh told that on November 30, 2025, he met a girl on a dating app. The girl told her name as Ankita Singh, resident of Dehradun. Shared WhatsApp number during chat on the app.
The victim told that on December 8, 2025, the girl told him that she also does Forex trading along with her business. The girl enumerated the benefits of forex trading.
From December 9, 2025, he created a Forex account and started depositing money in it. First invested Rs 90 thousand. After this the girl kept asking him to deposit the money.
All deposits and profits started appearing on his trading profile. On December 22, 2025, when he expressed his desire to withdraw the amount, Rs 2.12 lakh was deposited from him.
When he requested to withdraw the amount, on January 28, 2026, he was told that 30 percent income tax would have to be paid in advance in the account of the trading platform.
According to the victim, till now he has paid Rs 76.90 lakh. To withdraw the amount, pressure is being created to deposit Rs 22 lakh more. A case has been registered against unknown persons in the cyber police station and the mobile numbers and accounts are being investigated.
