Girl students found food with insects in Sonpur ANM center
Communication partner, Sonpur. The girl students of Sonpur's ANM Training Center protested fiercely on Wednesday over the finding of worms in the food. All the girl students first reached the sub-divisional hospital in protest over the low quality and irregularity of the food provided in the mess.
Here it was explained to her but she did not agree. After this, a group of girl students reached the subdivision office shouting slogans on the road. Here a delegation of girl students met the Sub-Divisional Officer in the Sub-Divisional Office and demanded appropriate action.
They alleged that the food being given to them in the mess of the training center is extremely unsafe for health, due to insects being found in the food and lack of cleanliness.
Insects are often found in pulses and vegetables
The girl students said at the police station that food is provided to them at the level of Jeevika Didis in the ANM training centre. A fixed fee is charged from them. The students say that insects are often found in pulses and vegetables and rotis are also not given properly. Despite repeated complaints to the mess operator, there was no improvement in the situation.
A student said that we need nutritious food, but the food we are getting here is making us fall ill. No care is taken about cleanliness.
Playing with health will not be tolerated
After listening to the complaints of the girl students, the SDO took the matter seriously. He assured to immediately get the mess food checked. The SDO assured the girl students that playing with their health will not be tolerated. The food samples will be tested and if the mess operator is found guilty, action will be taken.
The girl students allege that they are charged fees for hostel accommodation and food but do not even get basic facilities in return. At present, after the assurance from the administration, the girl students ended their protest. In this case, Jeevika Didi says that when the time comes to pay the money, such allegations are made.
SDO Snigdha Neha said that Jeevika has also been reprimanded regarding this issue and the girl students have been asked to form a team and check the food themselves every day.
