Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. The police have made preparations for the New Year celebrations and the safety of devotees in the temples. Its effect was seen on the eve also. At 13 places in the city, police in rural areas conducted operations in their respective areas till late night. Drunken drivers were investigated and action was taken. At the same time, policemen have been called from the zone to make the security of the devotees gathering at Gorakhnath temple impenetrable on January 1. Apart from this, more than a dozen parking spaces have been created at different places for parking of vehicles. On Wednesday, DIG Dr. S. Chanappa and SP City Abhinav Tyagi examined all the preparations. Instructed to immediately correct the deficiencies.
After seven o'clock on Wednesday evening, the police conducted a campaign at the marked places - Kudaghat intersection, Mohaddipur intersection, Padleganj intersection, Khazanchi intersection, Padri Bazaar intersection, TP Nagar intersection, Green City turn Kaurihwa, Bargadwa intersection, Nausadh intersection, University intersection, Kali Mandir intersection, Naukayan intersection. Drivers issued challans for being drunk

In the morning, the DIG, who accompanied the SP City, saw the parking spaces made for vehicles in preparation for the security of the crowd that would gather on January 1. During this, he was told that four COs, 20 inspectors, 160 sub-inspectors, 410 constables and 60 women constables have been deployed for the security of Gorakhnath temple. There will be deployment of police force at the temple premises, all entry gates, parking lots and surrounding roads. Policemen will also be deployed in plain clothes, so that immediate action can be taken on suspicious activities.
Apart from the temple, Kusamhi forest has also been kept in special monitoring area. In view of the possibility of increase in the number of people visiting here on the occasion of New Year, joint patrolling of police and forest department will be conducted. Policemen in plain clothes will be deployed in Vinod Van, Budhiya Mai Mandir and surrounding forest areas, who will keep an eye on the gangs who commit looting by posing as police.
Khorabar and AIIMS police station will be on continuous patrol along with the forest department team. Similarly, policemen have been deployed to protect the crowd at other places including boating. Security has also been tightened around the city's major markets, hotels, restaurants, malls and cinema halls. Additional police force has been deployed in busy areas like Mohaddipur, Padleganj, Dharamshala Bazaar, Gorakhnath Road, Asuran and Nausadh.
