Gorakhpur Weather Today: Dense Fog Blocked Sunlight, People Shivered Due To Severe Cold

The maximum temperature dropped six degrees Celsius in 24 hours. Awakening

Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. The havoc of fog is increasing. The cold wave is becoming deadly. On Tuesday, both fog and cold wave were seen in severe form. Due to dense fog, there was slight darkness throughout the day, let alone the sight of sunshine. It was so cold that people kept shivering the whole day. There was no relief from melting even at night. Tuesday's temperature data also confirmed this.

The maximum temperature dropped by six degrees Celsius in just 24 hours and was recorded at only 11.6 degrees Celsius. This maximum temperature figure was 7.9 degrees Celsius less than normal. Due to this, this day was declared a severe cold day according to the meteorological department. The minimum temperature dropped to 4.5 degrees Celsius. Due to humidity reaching 97 percent, it felt colder than the record temperature.

According to meteorologist Kailash Pandey, the reason for the severe cold is the active Western Disturbance over Northern Pakistan and the westerly wind blowing at a speed of 50 kilometers at a height of five thousand feet in the upper atmosphere. Apart from this, moist easterly wind is blowing on the surface. The westerly wind is carrying the icy cold of the mountains to eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The moisture coming with the easterly wind is causing dense fog. These atmospheric conditions will persist for the time being, hence the process of severe cold will continue. You will have to prepare yourself to face the havoc of fog.
