The district court sentenced the woman constable to three years' imprisonment.

Jagran correspondent, Chandigarh. The district court has sentenced a woman constable, who got a job on compassionate grounds on the basis of a fake certificate, to three years in prison. A fine of Rs 4500 has also been imposed. A case was registered against woman constable Bhupinderjit Kaur in Sector-3 police station 10 years ago under sections 420, 467, 468, 471 of IPC.

Commenting on this case, the court said that such accused are neither afraid of the law nor of any authority. Such people not only cheat innocent people, but they have not even spared the police department.

The court said that the accused himself prepared the fake certificate and used it, thereby committing the crime of fraud. In such cases it is necessary to deal strictly with the criminals. However, the court also clarified that the purpose of punishment is not only to punish but also to reform the criminal, which is an important objective of the justice system.

Got job after husband's death

According to the case, the police was informed by Senior Assistant Vinod Kumar of Sector-9 Police Headquarters. After which the police registered an FIR. According to the complaint, Bhupinderjit Kaur used fake 12th class certificate of Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) to get recruited as a constable in Chandigarh Police. The woman's husband was also a constable in Chandigarh Police who passed away. The woman was given the job only on compassionate grounds.

Education Board did not have any record

Police sought records from Punjab School Education Board to investigate this matter. The Secretary of the Board gave his report in which he said that no record of any candidate was found on the 12th class roll number given by the accused woman constable.

The board had no record of it. Not only this, neither the board nor this certificate was issued. In such a situation, on the basis of this report, the police registered an FIR against the accused woman.
