Government buses will not run across the state today.

Jatinder Kumar, Faridkot. Punjab Roadways, Punbus and PRTC Contract Workers Union, which is fighting for the demands of temporary employees of the Transport Department and the release of jailed employees, is going on strike across Punjab on Thursday.

Due to which, while government buses will not run today, on the other hand temporary employees will stage a protest in front of the CM residence. In this regard, Faridkot Depot employee leader Harpreet Singh Sodhi said that the Punjab government has failed to make permanent the temporary employees of entire Punjab, run the transport department smoothly and resolve the demands of farmers, laborers and employees.

To hide its failure, the government is using the police administration to suppress the voice of the people. He said that before the elections, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann used to say that he will end the corporate houses and government buses will run on all routes.

But this has been proved to be completely false. Recently, under the policy of privatization of the Transport Department, the government had brought tender for Kilometer Scheme buses, against which the union announced a struggle.

During this period, the government forcibly abducted the leaders from their homes and dharnas and imprisoned the struggling employees. More than two months have passed. The government repeatedly assures in meetings that the comrades will be released in 2 or 4 days.

But now the Transport Minister is putting conditions before the union and is trying to suppress the voice of the employees by keeping them in jail and forcibly implementing privatization.

Union Secretary Hardeep Singh and Vice President Beant Singh said that this struggle has been started to fulfill their demands and to get the jailed employees released. Under which the strike was started after noon on 11th February and the strike is continuing in all the depots across Punjab on Thursday also. Apart from this, a protest will be held in front of the Chief Minister's residence on Thursday.
