Opposition protested by tying black bands, surrounded the government on crime

On the eighth day of the budget session of Bihar Assembly, before the start of discussion on the income and expenditure of the year 2026-27, the atmosphere in the House premises became heated. Congress leaders reached the portico with black bands on their faces. Through this symbolic demonstration, he raised his voice against the increasing crime in the state and the alleged silence of the government. Sloganeering also took place for some time during the demonstration. Later all the MLAs went inside to participate in the proceedings of the House.

Attack on government on the issue of crime

MLA Abhishek Ranjan and other Congress leaders said that the incidents of crime are continuously increasing in the state. Alleged that the government is avoiding giving a clear answer on this serious issue. He said that this shows that the government is maintaining silence on the question of crime. Congress MLAs termed the law and order situation as worrying. Also demanded the government to take concrete steps on crime control and hold a detailed discussion in the House.

Joint demonstration on the plight of Bihar

RJD and Congress leaders jointly demonstrated in the Bihar Assembly complex on Thursday. Opposition members targeted the government, terming the current situation in the state as deplorable. The leaders who arrived with placards with slogans in their hands raised anti-government slogans. He said that the claims of development do not match the ground reality. A large number of opposition MLAs were present during the demonstration.

Raised the issue of literacy, income and investment

Opposition leaders alleged that Bihar still lags behind in the literacy rate in the country. He said that per capita income is the lowest and per capita investment is also at the lowest level in the state. The leaders said that despite claims of development, the common people are struggling for basic facilities. The opposition demanded a clear answer from the government on these issues. Also expressed the need for detailed discussion on the economic condition of the state.

Government also cornered on law and order

The leaders also attacked the government regarding the law and order situation. He alleged that the incidents of crime and daily murders have increased in the state. This has created an atmosphere of fear among the common people. Opposition MLAs said that the government has failed to maintain law and order. He reiterated the demand for a serious discussion on this issue in the House.

Demand for daily wage of Rs 700

The issue of workers' interests was also raised prominently during the demonstration. The opposition demanded setting the minimum daily wage for workers in the state at Rs 700. The leaders said that in this era of inflation, workers should get adequate relief. He warned that if their demands were not seriously considered, the movement would be further expanded.
