Injured employees undergoing treatment in the attendance house and hospital of BCCL's Vishwakarma project.
Jagran correspondent, Dhansar (Dhanbad). These days, there is an atmosphere of anarchy in Jharia coalfield. To establish supremacy over the coal mines, at some places the henchmen of the outsourcing company are beating BCCL officials, while at some places thieves and scoundrels are openly beating people and bleeding them.
On the other hand, the pride of the police, which is responsible for maintaining peace, is nowhere to be seen. Dhanbad Police and the CISF deployed for the security of BCCL remain mute spectators. The case of beating of BCCL officials by the goons of the outsourcing company in the NTST coal project had not yet subsided when another shocking incident came to light in the Vishwakarma project. There was a clash between coal thieves and workers here on Thursday. A mob of coal thieves beat workers Deepak Yadav and Devendra Yadav with sticks, due to which they got injured. During this, a stampede broke out among other employees. Both the injured were treated at the Central Hospital. Angered by this incident, the workers protested fiercely under the banner of the United Front. The workers and union leaders created a ruckus, raising slogans against the management. All the workers were demanding security. After receiving the information, CISF and Dhansar police reached the spot. The employees informed the police about the incident and accused Sanjay Yadav and others of assault. It is being told that some women and children steal coal in the Vishwakarma project area. There was a dispute with BCCL employees Deepak and Gopal regarding this matter. After this, about two dozen coal thieves, searching for Gopal and Deepak, attacked the attendance house of Vishwakarma Project. Many personnel present there were assaulted, leading to a stampede. Some personnel entered the attendance hall and closed the door, but the coal thieves broke the door and entered inside, beat Deepak and Devendra and broke their heads. Later, other personnel picked up both the injured and took them to Central Hospital Dhanbad for treatment. There is huge anger among the union leaders after the incident. He says that incidents of assault on workers are happening every day, but the management is not taking any concrete measures for their safety. He warned that unless adequate security arrangements are made, the work on the Vishwakarma project will remain closed. Union leaders Nandlal Mahato, Chhotu Ram, Umashankar, Vinay, Sachchidanand, Balwant, Gauri and many others were involved in the protest demanding security. Dhansar police is conducting raids at various places in search of Sanjay Yadav. On the other hand, a woman named Poonam of Victory Colliery has filed a complaint against Gopal Rai, Deepak Yadav and Devendra at Jharia police station, alleging molestation.
