Jagran correspondent, Patna. There was partial improvement in pollution figures on Wednesday. However, moderate level of pollution was recorded in 11 cities including Patna. The air of Danapur in the capital was the most polluted. The air quality index (AQI) here was recorded at 177, Gandhi Maidan at 140, Samanpura at 119 and Patna City Shikarpur at 105.
Hajipur's air was the worst in the state. The AQI here was recorded at 180. The air in eight cities of the state, Biharsharif, Arrah, Kishanganj, Chhapra, Gayaji, Bhagalpur, Rajgir and Sasaram, was satisfactory. The air of the state is getting polluted due to accumulation of dust particles in the lower surface of the atmosphere due to moisture in the air.
Due to increased vehicular activity, the smoke emitted from the vehicle was found to exceed the PM 2.5 standard. According to Bihar State Pollution Control Board, the density of air increases with the drop in temperature during winter days. The level of pollution keeps increasing and decreasing in many places.
The air quality of the city is also affected depending on the geographical structure of the state. Since the soil is not solid, the amount of dust particles in the air is high. The air quality also deteriorates due to construction work at different places.
