Jagran correspondent, South Delhi. Youth in NCR including the national capital Delhi welcomed the New Year with celebration. On Wednesday, she looked eager to welcome the new year. From hotels, restaurants to malls and markets were buzzing with youth. While police were deployed at every nook and corner for security, the suspects were also kept under watch by putting up barricades.

Youth gathered in Hauz Khas Village, Mehrauli, Chhatarpur etc. While dancing to the tune of old and new songs, we bid farewell to the year 2025 and welcomed the year 2026. As soon as the hands of the clock reached 12, the sound of firecrackers echoed in the streets.

Police barricading was found in front of Saket Mall on Press Enclave Road. Vehicles going to Gurugram were being released only after investigation. At the same time, crowd of people also gathered in the clubs located near Qutub Minar complex on Kalka Das Marg in Mehrauli.

Somewhere the theme included history and heritage and somewhere the evening was decorated with songs and music. As evening approached, a crowd of celebrants gathered on the road leading to Hauz Khas village. The crowd was so much that even the steps of pedestrians stopped. The Southern Range Police had issued a traffic advisory a day earlier. Under this, the route of Saket Traffic Circle has been diverted on January 1, 2026.

Press Enclave road leading to Saket and Pushp Vihar area was affected. The traffic here was diverted from Sheikh Sarai Market, Asian Market Light, PTS Mallavi Light. Whereas all the cuts of Sheikh Sarai and Hauz Rani road remained temporarily closed.

Movement of DTC buses and other heavy vehicles also remained restricted on Press Enclave Road, Pushp Vihar Road, MB Road. Drivers were sent to their destinations through alternative routes.

Passengers going from Chirag Delhi to Qutub Minar were sent via Khanpur T-Point, MB Road and Lado Sarai T-Point. Passengers going from IIT flyover to Sangam Vihar and Sainik Farm were sent ahead via TB Hospital Light, Lado Sarai Light, MB Road, Chirag Delhi and Khanpur Light.
