Hapur Municipality has been placed in B category and Pilkhuwa Municipality in C category.
Jagran correspondent, Hapur. The government has placed Hapur Municipality in B category and Pilkhuwa Municipality in C category. The main reason for this is the non-expansion of the boundaries of the municipalities. In such a situation, some important posts in both the municipalities will be abolished. Besides, the budget received by these two municipalities from the government will also reduce. In such a situation, there will be a reduction in the development work happening in the city. Which will have a direct impact on the people living in the city.
In the last 35 years, no chairman or any executive officer has been able to expand the boundary of Hapur and Pilkhuwa Municipality. Due to this, the government has reduced the status of municipality of Hapur and Pilkhuwa. Both Hapur and Pilkhuwa municipalities were earlier included in A category.
Hapur Municipality was counted among the important municipalities of the state. Due to which more budget was available for the development of the city. Good budget was available from infrastructure to all finance commissions. Similarly, Pilkhuwa used to get the second budget in the district, but the failure of the officials and never being able to do anything new for the development of the city has now become a burden.
Recently, a survey was conducted for all the municipalities of the state at the government level. After which a notification has been issued from the government level making changes in the categories of municipal bodies. Due to the new rule, no municipality in the district can now be included in A category. Category decided on the basis of population: The government has decided the category of municipal bodies on the basis of district headquarters and population, whereas earlier it was not so.
Hapur Municipality has been kept in B category when its population is less than three lakhs, whereas for a long time this municipality was included in A category. Due to which the proposed income-expenditure budget of the municipality was around Rs 100 crore. Now with both the municipalities reaching B and C category, resources and facilities will also be affected.
Many posts will be abolished
Presently there is a post of Tax Assessment Officer in Hapur. According to the new rule, there will be no post of Tax Assessment Officer in Hapur. The post of Tax Inspector will remain in his place. At the same time, in Pilkhuwa, the posts of Tax Assessment Officer and Tax Inspector will be abolished and only Revenue Inspector will remain.
According to the new rule, Hapur has been kept in B category and Pilkhuwa in C category. This may reduce some budget. Steps will be taken soon to increase the income of the municipality and expand its boundaries. However, no orders have come regarding reducing the budget. - Sanjay Kumar Mishra, EO, Municipality
