Digital Team, Chandigarh. Aam Aadmi Party's national media in-charge Anurag Dhanda strongly criticized the attitude of the BJP government on the issue of flood-affected farmers in the Haryana Assembly on Thursday, saying that instead of providing relief to the farmers, the BJP government of Haryana is turning away from them on the pretext of rules and regulations. The ground reality is that the recent floods have broken the backs of farmers, a huge amount of sand has accumulated in the fields and the entire crop has been destroyed, but the government remains insensitive.
Anurag Dhanda said that when the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann has implemented a far-sighted and farmer-friendly policy like 'whose field is his sand', then why is the BJP government of Haryana sitting idle. In Punjab, the sand accumulated in the fields due to flood has been considered as the farmer's property and permission has been given to remove it and sell it, due to which the farmers are not only able to clean their fields but are also earning additional income.
He said that on one hand this policy of the Punjab Government has brought relief to the farmers, on the other hand the prices of sand have come down by 30-35 percent, illegal mining has been curbed and cultivable land is being re-developed rapidly. Providing machinery by the government shows that the Aam Aadmi Party government is not just making statements with the farmers, but is standing on the ground.
Anurag Dhanda sarcastically said that instead of expressing condolences on the plight of farmers, the BJP government in Haryana is trying to prove that it cannot do anything. It is an old habit of BJP to run away from relief citing rules. If Punjab government can find a solution, then why not Haryana government? Are Haryana farmers second class citizens for the BJP government?
He said that Aam Aadmi Party has a clear thinking that farmers cannot be left alone in natural disasters. The model of Punjab Government proves that if there is will, policy can be made and relief can also be provided. The BJP government of Haryana should leave its political arrogance and adopt the Punjab model and provide immediate relief to the flood affected farmers.
Anurag Dhanda said that Aam Aadmi Party will continue to raise this fight for the rights of farmers with full force from the streets to the House and on the other hand will hold the BJP government of Haryana accountable for its anti-farmer policies.
If Punjab government is capable then why is Haryana government not able to find a solution?
