State Bureau, Chandigarh. Amidst the ongoing recruitment of 5500 constables in Haryana Police, confusion has arisen among the candidates regarding age. Haryana Staff Selection Commission Chairman Himmat Singh, who often takes the initiative to appear on the internet media, has also tried to clear the confusion regarding the age of recruitment of constables.
The Chairman has made it clear that the age of the candidates will be calculated as per the police rules. The age of the candidate will be calculated considering the first date of the month in which the recruitment will take place. Haryana Staff Selection Commission has issued recruitment notification for 5500 posts in Police.
Earlier, the biggest recruitment was on 5061 posts. 4500 male constables and 600 female constables are to be recruited this time. Along with these, 400 posts of mail constables have been reserved for GRP. Online applications for recruitment have started from January 11.
Applications can be submitted online till 11:59 pm on January 25, 2026. There has been a dispute regarding the age of the candidates during the application process. Staff Selection Commission has already made it clear that the candidates who had applied for the canceled police recruitment in 2024, will get age relaxation in this new recruitment. Notification in this regard will be issued later.
Commission Chairman Himmat Singh said that in the advertisement issued while seeking applications for recruitment, it was made clear regarding the age that the age of the candidate will be decided as per the police rules. It is clear in the Police Rules that the age of the candidate will be calculated on the basis of the first date of the month in which the recruitment will be done. It has not been decided yet when that recruitment will take place.
Right now only applications are being accepted. The chairman gave an example. If the recruitment process starts on 20th August in any year, then the age of the candidate will be calculated considering 1st August as the basis. There should not be any confusion regarding the age limit dates. Candidates should read all the terms and conditions given in the advertisement before registering for the application or submitting the form in the final form.
