Jagran correspondent, Panchkula. The testimony of the complainant in the impotence (castration) case against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and two doctors will be held on March 5 in the court of Special Judicial Magistrate (CBI) located in District Panchkula, Haryana.

The court has scheduled his testimony for March 5, 6 and 7 in a hearing held on Saturday. No other witness will be summoned for hearing during these three days.

The US-based complainant, seeking an adjournment last month, had said in his plea that he was undergoing treatment for retinal vein occlusion and doctors had advised him to avoid looking at the camera for long periods of time.

She also said that Ram Rahim is an influential person, who has connections with senior politicians, and requested to allow the physical presence of his lawyer on the remote center of video conferencing (VC) to maintain confidence during the recording of the testimony.

The CBI defense counsel had not raised any objection to adjourning the cross-examination. However, the defense opposed the request for physical presence of the witness's counsel at the remote VC center and argued that there is no provision to permit the presence of counsel at the remote center during evidence recording. After hearing the arguments of the complainant and defense counsels and the CBI, the court had ruled that the counsel would not be allowed to enter the VC room as per the video conferencing rules framed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Only the Remote Center Coordinator will be allowed to facilitate the video conferencing process.

This case was registered on January 7, 2015 by CBI, New Delhi under sections 120-B, 326, 417 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code against Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Dr. Pankaj Garg and Dr. MP Singh. According to the prosecution, Ram Rahim allegedly got around 400 followers castrated in connivance with doctors, claiming that it would bring them closer to God.
