Jagran correspondent, Bareilly. The pace of construction of Bareilly-Pilibhit-Sitarganj highway has increased. In the first package, 43 percent work has been completed from Bareilly to Pilibhit. Whereas in the second package from Pilibhit to Sitarganj, only 23 percent work has been done. It is being claimed that by July the work on the first package will be completed and the vehicles will be started operating.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) started the construction of Bareilly-Pilibhit-Sitarganj Highway last year. In the first package, 32.50 km highway is being constructed from Bareilly to Pilibhit at a cost of Rs 450 crore, while in the second package, 38 km highway is being constructed between Pilibhit and Sitarganj. Initially, possession of the land was not available and trees coming in the way became a hindrance.

NHAI was not able to get possession of 400 meters of land in Rithora, 300 meters in Barkapur, 500 meters in Ladpur Osmanpur and 300 meters in Faridpur Ganga alias Nawada for construction of bypass in an area of 32.50 km. NHAI officials met the district administration and got the blockage removed. When the administration removed the encroachment and got possession of the land, the NOC of the Forest Department got stuck.

Even after providing budget and land to plant four times as many saplings in lieu of the trees to be cut, the trees could be cut after months. After this the pace of construction was increased. In this project, the highway is being equipped with modern technology so that the drivers do not face any hindrance in traffic. Digital displays will be installed at various places.

Cameras will be installed at key locations, which will make it easier to assess the causes of future accidents. To curb accidents caused by herds of stray animals coming onto the highway, walls will be constructed on both sides of the entire highway. The target has been set to complete the work of the first package before the start of the rainy season, while the work of the second package will take time to complete.

The pace of construction on Bareilly-Sitarganj Highway has been increased. To prevent accidents, signs have been installed at key places and the road has been blocked. In the first package, a target has been set to complete the construction from Bareilly to Pilibhit by next July. In the second package, the construction work between Pilibhit and Sitarganj has started late, so it will take some time.
