Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police has advised to be cautious while travelling.

State Bureau, Srinagar. In view of the current weather and road conditions due to snow at many places, Traffic Police Rural Kashmir on Sunday issued an advisory regarding the movement of vehicles on the hilly roads of the valley.

According to the advisory issued from the office of Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic Rural Kashmir, movement on hilly roads will be as per the prescribed cut-off time and traffic advisory only.

Motorists and passengers have been advised to confirm their travel timings by contacting the Traffic Police Control Room Kashmir on designated helpline numbers before starting their journey.

The advisory also states that motorists must ensure that their vehicles are fitted with proper anti-skid equipment as any vehicle without an approved anti-skid mechanism will not be allowed to ply on hilly roads. e

These include Tangmarg, Gulmarg Kangan, Sonamarg and beyond Sinthan Kishtwar, Mughal Road, Kupwara Border Roads and Gurez Bandipora. The traffic police also clarified that to avoid overcrowding and traffic jams in roadside holding areas, only registered anti-skid chain vendors will be allowed to install chains at designated places.
