11 policemen involved in Chitta dismissed (symbolic picture)
Jagran correspondent, Dharamshala. Himachal government has ordered dismissal of 11 police personnel involved in chitta under Chittamukt Himachal campaign. Driver Sandeep Rana, head constable of Indian Second Reserve Corps Sakoh, is also included among the dismissed soldiers.
It is noteworthy that on March 16, 2025, Palampur Police, based on secret information, had raided the house of a person, where some other people were also present. During this time, 12 grams of Chitta was recovered from the bed in the house of the accused. At that time, the police had registered a case against the owner of the house and other people present there for using chitta and buying and selling. Police had also caught driver Sandeep Rana, head constable of Sakoh battalion, in the house.
Police had received secret information that some people were doing chitta business in Tanda (Rajpur). During this time, the police raided a rented house and recovered 12 grams of chitta. In this case, Bunty resident of Ward-13 Palampur, Rakesh Kumar resident of Khaleth, Rimpu Kumar resident of Moharla (driver in Sports Department Shimla), Manit Kumar resident of Ward 2 Palampur, Akshay Kumar resident of Ward 13 Holta Palampur, Akshay Sharma resident of Tarehal Baijnath and Sandeep Rana resident of Chudrehar (policeman) were arrested.
Police is investigating in this matter. After the case, the police department had suspended Sandeep Rana and the matter is being investigated. The departmental inquiry has not been finalized yet. In this case, the fact has also come to light that the constable is also addicted to chitta. On the day when he was arrested by the police, he had gone to Palampur from the battalion and had not returned to the battalion.
Notice was given to suspended head constable Sandeep Rana. After the completion of the investigation, he has been given another chance to present his views. He has not presented his side.
