Jagran correspondent, Mandi. In Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, major action has been taken against the drivers who continuously violate the rules. Taking strict action against habitual offenders in violation of the Motor Vehicles Act, the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Mandi Aslam Beg has imposed a total fine of Rs 7,66,650 on eight habitual offenders. The court has declared the driving licenses of the culprits ineligible for six and three months. The convicts who appeared in the court were given a fine as well as a warning of not being allowed to drive. The court had earlier issued bailable warrants to the accused and show cause notices to seize the vehicles. He was ordered to appear in court on 24 December. Eight accused appeared in the court on time and confessed to their crimes.
101 challans in the name of Rohit Arora
The court awarded Rs 3,02,100 to Rohit Arora of Tarna, Mandi city for 101 challans, Rs 1,21,800 to Prashant Chandel for 47 challans, Rs 1,16,100 to Sushil for 47 challans, Rs 73,850 to Rajat Upadhyay for 37 challans, Rs 73,850 to Sumit Sharma for 35 challans. Fined Rs 57,200, Farooq Hasan Rs 44,200 for 36 challans, Pradeep Rs 42,200 for 24 challans and Zuber Ahmed Rs 9,200 for 13 challans.
Driving license disqualified for six months
The court declared the driving license of Rohit Arora ineligible for six months and the licenses of other culprits for three months each. The order said that strict action will be taken under Section 181 of the Motor Vehicles Act for driving a vehicle during the disqualification period. The information about license disqualification and the original licenses of the culprits have been sent to the licensing authority.
Non-bailable warrant against those who do not appear in court
Along with this, information about the order has been sent to all the police station in-charges through the District Superintendent of Police. Non-bailable warrants will be issued against the accused who did not attend the court. This strict decision of the court gives a clear message that those who violate the Motor Vehicles Act will not be spared.
