State Bureau, Shimla. Following the order of Himachal Pradesh High Court, State Election Commissioner Anil Khachi has called a meeting of Commission officials on Monday. The High Court has ordered to make election related preparations by 28th February and to conduct Panchayat and urban body elections before 30th April.

In this meeting to be held on Monday, apart from discussing the court orders in detail, the future outline will be decided. So that the entire process can be completed on time. For this, a meeting of government officials will also be called soon, so that the government and the commission can jointly conduct the elections on time.
What will happen with Panchayat reorganization?
The state government had started the process of constituting 7 new Panchayats and reorganizing around 74 Panchayats during the ongoing hearing in the court. In such a situation, now the Commission and the Government will together decide what to do with them. The court has also ordered to hold elections together.
Eyes fixed on cabinet meeting
According to the information, in the proposed cabinet meeting on January 16, the decision of the State High Court regarding the elections will be discussed and further process will be decided on the basis of that.
Elections will be held after reservation roster and voter lists are notified.
In the three-tier system of Panchayati Raj institutions in the state, elections for 3577 Panchayats, 91 Block Committees, 12 District Councils, seven Municipal Corporations and other urban bodies will be held only when the reservation roster is released. Apart from this, the District Deputy Commissioner will notify the voter lists.
