State Bureau, Shimla. On Tuesday, storms blew at a speed of 40 to 70 kilometers throughout the state. Due to snowfall and hailstorm, the day temperature has dropped by about eight degrees Celsius. Rohtang, Baralacha, Kunjum have received up to two feet of snowfall. About two feet of snowfall occurred at both ends of Atal Tunnel Rohtang. Snowfall is occurring in the entire Lahaul valley.

Lahaul valley has been cut off from Manali. Manali city received three inches of snow, Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur received about one foot, Kufri and Narkanda received six inches of snow. Snow fell along with hailstorm in Shimla. There has been snowfall in Dalhousie also. Snowfall has also occurred around Khajjiar Lake in Chamba district. Educational institutions will remain closed in Kullu, Manali and Banjar sub-divisions and Lahaul Spiti district on January 28.

Shimla-Rampur National Highway (NH) and Shimla-Choupal main road have been closed by the administration. There has also been snowfall in Kinnaur district. In Chamba district, there was one to one and a half feet snowfall in high altitude areas including Kilar, Bairagarh and Manimahesh and half a foot snowfall in medium altitude areas including Chamba Jot, Khajjiar.

Pangi Valley received snowfall for the second time in January. Bharmour MLA Dr. Janak Raj's car got stuck in snow some distance away from his house due to snowfall. The local people pushed the vehicle to reach home. The highest temperature in the state was 15.8 degrees Celsius in Kangra. Highest rainfall was recorded at 14.4 mm in Una and 12.2 mm in Dharamshala.

There was snowfall in the upper areas and rain in the lower areas of the state on Tuesday. The beauty of Khajjiar, a tourist destination known as Mini Switzerland, has further improved after snowfall.

Snowfall at Narkanda, Kufri, Khajjiar Lake and other tourist places. Avalanche warning issued at altitudes above 2500 meters. 525 roads still closed in the state. About 525 roads are closed for traffic. Buses are being run for upper areas of Shimla via Basantpur. Bus movement to Narkanda and Kufri was affected.

1015 transformers are faulty in the state due to which many rural areas are in darkness. Two people trapped inside the snow gallery were rescued by Manali police. Two people trapped inside the snow gallery on Manali-Atal Tunnel road were rescued. DSP Manali KD Sharma said that on Tuesday morning information was received that two people were trapped in snow near First Snow Gallery Dhundhi.

After this, the police team deployed in Atal Tunnel security rescued both of them from Dhundi and took them safely to Manali. They were identified as 28 year old Rameshwar resident of Jharkhand and 19 year old Deepak resident of Uttar Pradesh.

Today again there is a possibility of heavy snowfall and storm. The Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of thunderstorm and heavy snowfall in Chamba, Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul Spiti and Shimla till 9 am on January 28. Along with this, avalanche warning has been issued in areas at a height of more than 2500 meters in the state. The Meteorological Department has advised to travel on the basis of weather before traveling in hilly and tourist areas. There is a possibility of cold wave in Una, Bilaspur, Solan and Sirmaur on January 28.
