Jagran correspondent, Prayagraj. Those who make bike stunts, reels and drive unauthorized vehicles at high speed on the under-construction Ganga Expressway will no longer fare well. Now a case will be registered against them and the vehicles will also be seized. There is a danger to life due to such illegal activities.
On February 8, a speeding car had crushed seven people in Rae Bareli, in which four people had died. The Chief Executive Officer of UPEDA has sent a letter to the District Magistrates of Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Rae Bareli, Unnao, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Badaun, Sambhal, Amroha, Hapur, Bulandshahr and Meerut asking them to make arrangements to stop unauthorized traffic on the main carriageway.
DM Prayagraj Manish Kumar Verma has constituted a committee of DCP Ganganagar Kuldeep Gunawat and SDM Soraon Gyanendra Singh and given instructions for necessary action.
There is a danger to life and property if forced movement on the expressway under construction, vehicles will also be seized.
According to Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEDA), most of the main carriageway structures and interchanges on the Ganga Expressway have been completed. Traffic safety related construction work like metal beam crash barriers, signage, TMS and ATMS is currently underway, making any unauthorized movement (on foot or in vehicles) extremely dangerous.
At some places, local people have started using the paved surface of the expressway for roaming around, shooting with mobile cameras, bike stunts and making reels. The trend of taking vehicles as a short cut has also started. The CEO of UPEDA has said in the letter that any kind of movement other than workers, related machinery and vehicles on the expressway should be completely banned.
The developers deployed security guards day and night at the temporary ramp. All entry-exit ramps of the interchange should be blocked by installing concrete crash barriers. Instructions have been given to install staggered barriers every 15 km. The police and administration should assist the developer to stop any attempt to forcefully enter.
Instructions have been given to file a case against unauthorized entry. Police should register a case in every incident of forceful removal of barriers installed on the entry road and unauthorized entry on the expressway.
The committee of DCP Ganganagar and SDM Soraon has been authorized to take action on UPEDA's letter regarding unauthorized entry on the under-construction Ganga Expressway. On the instructions of the committee, representatives of the developer company will file a case against those forcibly walking on the expressway. Manish Kumar Verma, DM
