Things changed regarding the use of SIM cards.

Digital Desk, New Delhi. In today's digital age, where mobile and internet have made our lives unprecedentedly easier, the threat of cyber crime and online fraud has also increased manifold. A serious concern is that someone else may misuse your ID and operate a SIM card.

If any illegal work is done using these unauthorized numbers, you may get entangled in legal trouble. Therefore, it is very important to know how many SIMs are active in your name and how you can protect yourself from this danger.

How to check active SIM on your ID

The government has taken an important step to ensure the safety of citizens and launched a special portal named TAF-COP (Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection). Through this portal, you can easily check from home how many mobile numbers are registered on your ID.

The process is very simple

What to do if you see an unknown number?

If you find a number in this list that you do not recognize or which is not in your use, then there is no need to panic. You can report that number immediately on the same TAF-COP portal.

After filing the complaint, you will be given a reference number through which you can check the status of your complaint. After this the telecom department starts the process of blocking that unknown number.

Limit of SIM on one ID

According to government rules, a person in India can have a maximum of 9 SIM cards on one ID. However, in some specific areas of the country like Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and North-Eastern states, this limit is only 6 SIM cards.

To avoid cyber frauds and keep your digital identity safe, it is necessary that you keep checking the active SIM on your ID from time to time. A little vigilance on your part can save you from huge financial and legal losses. If you have not checked yet, secure your digital identity by visiting the government portal today.
