Digital Desk, New Delhi. A shocking incident has come to light from Kompally in Hyderabad. In a government school here, a class 7 student was beaten badly by class 10 students. The 10th class students were ordered to do so by the principal of that government school.
In this incident, Krishna, the principal of the government school, is the Divisional Education Officer (MEO) in-charge of Dundigal, whose job is to protect the rights and welfare of the students. But even while holding this post, the principal ordered the 10th class students to hit the 7th class student with sticks.
According to reports, the violence took place at a bicycle stand in a government school, where a dispute broke out over theft of bicycle parts and deflation of tyres.
What is the whole matter?
This incident at a government school in Hyderabad took place on Monday, 23 December. At school, a teacher named Madhu had sent Class 7 student Phanindra Surya to the cycle stand to check the cycles.
At the same time, a teacher named Cherry saw Surya and thought him to be a person tampering with bicycles and took Surya to the headmaster's office.
School Principal Krishna, without making any inquiry, called nine Class 10 students and ordered them to hit Surya with sticks on his back.
Complaint lodged with police
Surya's father has lodged a police complaint in this matter. It is emphasized that this incident is a gross violation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, which strictly prohibits corporal punishment and mental harassment.
Pet Basheerbagh Police Inspector Vijaya Vardhan told NDTV that a case of causing hurt has been registered in this incident under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and the Indian Code of Justice.
