Sports Desk, New Delhi. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met two-time Olympic medalist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and his wife Hemani Mor. PM Modi had invited both of them to his residence 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. PM Modi has posted pictures of this meeting on his X handle.
During this meeting, Neeraj was seen wearing cream colored sherwani. His wife Hemani was wearing a green velvet jacket. Whereas PM Modi was wearing a black safari suit.
While posting the photo of this meeting on his Facebook page, PM Modi said that he discussed sports with Neeraj. He wrote, "Met Neeraj Chopra and his wife Hemani Mor today at their residence 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. We talked about many issues which obviously included sports."
This was Neeraj's first personal meeting with the PM. Earlier he had met PM Modi along with many other players. PM Modi often meets the players. Modi meets the players who have brought glory to the country and encourages them.
Neeraj had won the gold medal for India in javelin throw in Tokyo Olympics-2020. He became the first player to win an individual Olympic gold medal for India in athletics. With this, he is only the second player from India to win Olympic gold for India in an individual event. Before him, this work was done by Abhinav Bindra. After this, Neeraj was also successful in winning a medal in Paris Olympics-2024. Although gold was expected from him, he was successful in winning silver. With this, Neeraj became one of the select players of India who have two Olympic medals in his name.
