Jagran correspondent, Meerut. Four youths of Ajrada located in Mundali committed cyber fraud worth crores of rupees in two years. Police arrested four accused and also recovered some items from them. Of these, three accused are illiterate, while one is eighth pass.
They used to cheat people by promising to sell lights and other items used for decoration in wedding ceremonies at half the price on Facebook and Instagram. After booking, they used to put junk in the box instead of luggage and send it to the courier. They used to get the money deposited in the account by showing the receipt of the courier. They have cheated the people of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh the most.
In the press conference at Police Lines, SSP Avinash Pandey said that six complaints were uploaded from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu on the portal of Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre. The IDs of the mobile numbers used in the above cases were from Ajrada village of Mundali. Cyber cell investigation revealed that Salman, Salim, Matloob and Zeeshan of Ajrada village have been committing cyber fraud for the last two years.
The police arrested all four accused and interrogated them. They have created IDs on Instagram and Facebook in the name of fake companies. On the said ID, photographs of many items including chandeliers, hair, glass jugs used for decoration in wedding ceremonies have been uploaded. The rates of all the above mentioned items are shown half as compared to the market.
Customers are told that the goods are sold directly from the factory, hence are cheaper. As soon as they reach the shops their price doubles. WhatsApp number has also been given for ordering. It is told in the video that free online delivery will be provided across the country. Orders were being received from many states including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh. They used to get the money deposited into the account by sending the receipt to the courier of the goods. The courier packets were filled with rubbish. This gang has cheated crores of rupees in many states for the last two years.
The SIM was being used on a fake ID and an account had been opened in the bank using fake company documents. The accused used to withdraw the money as soon as it was deposited in the said account. All the mobile numbers were also purchased on fake IDs. Used to break the SIM after fraud. When the account was closed, another one was opened in the bank. Everyone had made good arrangements with the bank also.
IT Act cases have been registered against him in 2023 and 24 also. They used to get bail from the police station itself by making arrangements. These items recovered were iron star, chandelier (iron), hair (glass), hair (wire), glass jug, flower string, flower shed, basket (wire), chandelier (glass), balloon (wire), top (wire) and flower belts.
