State Bureau, Patna. 100% Aadhaar seeding (e-KYC) has been made mandatory for all ration cardholders in the state covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).

On the instructions of the Food and Public Distribution Department, Government of India, the Food and Consumer Protection Department of Bihar has appealed to all such beneficiaries, who have not yet done e-KYC, to compulsorily complete e-KYC by 28 February 2026.

Free e-KYC can be done through biometric verification, street sign or iris scan through e-PoS machines available at all Public Distribution System (PDS) shops in the state.

Apart from this, ration card holders can do their e-KYC themselves from anywhere in the state through Facial e-KYC mobile app.

People living in these states will not be able to avail this benefit

Those beneficiaries of Bihar who are currently living outside the state can also get e-KYC done through Facial e-KYC mobile app while living in other states except Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

The department has clarified that ration cardholders living outside the state for livelihood or other reasons are not required to return to Bihar to get e-KYC done.

Since e-KYC facility is available across the country, they can also get e-KYC done at the PDS shop nearest to their current residence.

For any kind of information or assistance related to e-KYC, beneficiaries can contact their Marketing Officer, Sub-Divisional Officer or District Supply Officer.

Additionally, assistance can also be availed on toll-free numbers 1800-3456-194, 14445 and 1967.
