Due to difficulty in breathing and vomiting, both of them were brought to Community Health Center Bidhuna. Where one died. The other was referred to Uttar Pradesh Medical Sciences University, Saifai. The incident took place on Friday afternoon in Nagla Kaharan village of Airvakatra police station area.
The couple stayed at the brother-in-law's house with the children. Who is originally a resident of village Patna Bela of Sahar region. Health center doctor Dr. Pradeep Singh told that both the children were brought by relatives. One child had died. Cough syrup was prescribed as Cofzin. Dr. Pradeep told that the relatives told that after giving syrup, the child was fed milk and put to sleep. Burping was not done. This might have happened due to a problem in the respiratory tract.
Sachin Kumar, resident of village Patna Bela, had gone to Dovamafi temple of Airvakatra on Thursday morning with his wife Neha, two sons, 18 month old Rohan and nine month old Sohan, along with their relatives. Where after Sohan was tonsured, the relatives went to their respective homes. Sachin had gone to his brother-in-law's house at some distance in village Nagla Kaharan with his wife and children.
On Friday morning the children had vomiting along with cough. After which both of them were given cough syrup kept at home. Which aunty had brought for herself. He was also coughing. Neha fed milk to Rohan and put the children to sleep. When the innocent child did not wake up till 3 o'clock in the afternoon, an attempt was made to wake him up. Seeing no activity, both were taken to CHC. The doctor declared Rohan dead.
Sohan was referred to Uttar Pradesh Medical Sciences University, Saifai in a critical condition. The relatives refused to conduct the post-mortem of the innocent child. Took the body home. At the same time, some medical store operators say that the children might have been given excessive doses. The formula is fine. Only two and a half to three ml of this syrup is given to children.
