Jagran correspondent, Bhagalpur. Bhagalpur district has placed first in the state in providing benefits to pregnant women under Janani Suraksha Yojana. The district has sent the amount directly to the bank accounts of more than three thousand pregnant women, while in many other districts the accounts of the beneficiaries have not been opened yet.
Under this scheme, to give the amount to the beneficiaries, it is necessary to first create their ID. In Bhagalpur district, the Health Department has so far created IDs of 37,134 mothers, out of which the amount has been deposited in the bank accounts of 3,218.
The process of making ID in the district involves uploading the bank account, Aadhaar and other necessary documents of the beneficiaries. Due to non-payment of amount since February last year, pregnant women had to make rounds of the department.
To speed up this process, District Accounts Manager Vikas Kumar gave instructions and the team worked hard day and night to complete the work. As a result, Bhagalpur district secured the top position in the state. The government pays Rs 1,400 per beneficiary to mothers in rural areas and Rs 1,000 per beneficiary to mothers in urban areas.
