Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. Inflation in food items has once again spoiled the kitchen budget of the common consumer. The prices of pulses and edible oils have increased in recent times. In the wholesale and retail market, Arhar dal has crossed Rs 110 per kg and reached Rs 140, while mustard oil is also being sold at the price of Rs 175 to 180 per liter.

An increase of Rs 10 to 15 per liter has also been recorded in soybean oil. The reason for the rise in trading prices is said to be higher domestic demand relative to availability.

Sanjay Singhania, a wholesale businessman based in Galla Mandi, said that the price of oil has increased in view of Ascendant and Roza. Due to high demand and low availability, the trend is likely to remain bullish for now. Oil prices may soften after the arrival of the new mustard crop. A rise of Rs 15 per liter is also being seen in soybean oil. Pulses trader Ramesh Kasodhan said that the prices will remain high till the arrival of the new crop.

Businessman Ramesh Gupta says that the demand for pulses suddenly increases during the Ascendant. Along with this, the supply coming from outside is also limited, due to which there is pressure on prices. At the same time, retail businessman Ashok Aggarwal says that the increase in wholesale prices is directly impacting the retail market, which is directly impacting the pockets of consumers. If the demand and import situation does not improve, the prices of pulses and oil may increase further in the coming days.
