Jagran correspondent, Kanpur. In protest against the abuses in Govind Nagar, uncle and nephew brutally murdered 35-year-old petrol pump salesman Rahul Awasthi by taking him from home on Sunday night.
After drinking alcohol, the murder accused along with him reached Nirala Nagar railway ground on his bike, where they stripped him naked and first beat him with a belt and then killed him by hitting his head with a brick.

On Monday morning, when the local people saw the dogs scratching and eating the naked body, they informed the police. The dogs had scratched his face, hip, stomach and left hand. After forensic investigation, the police sent the body for post-mortem.
At the same time, the father of the deceased filed a case against his friend, fearing that he might commit the murder. After this, when the police took the accused into custody and interrogated him, he confessed to committing the murder along with his nephew. Told that Rahul had abused him while drinking alcohol on Saturday, to take revenge of which he murdered him.
Ram Prakash Awasthi, originally a resident of Palepur village of Narwal, works as a security guard in the oil depot located at Naubasta Galla Mandi. Presently he along with his family lives in Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Naubasta. His son Rahul was a salesman at Hindustan Petroleum Pump in Ramaipur.
He was married to Maya Devi, resident of Sarai Mita, Panki, three years ago. According to the father, discord started between the two after 15 days of marriage. The daughter-in-law has been living separately from her son on the first floor of the house for about two years. There is only one mobile phone in his family.
At around 10:45 pm on Sunday night, Rahul gave him the mobile and left, saying that he would come after some time, after which he did not return. On Monday morning, Rahul's body was found naked and mutilated in Niralanagar ground. Reached the spot and contacted the relatives on the basis of the bike number.
The deceased's sister Pooja Awasthi and father Ram Prakash, who reached the spot, confirmed that the body was that of Rahul. The forensic team took possession of the blood-soaked brick found from the spot. DCP South said that when Rahul had gone to give the mobile phone to his father at night, murder accused Kamta Sharma and his nephew Mohit Sharma, residents of Baba Nagar, Naubasta, were also with him.
This was revealed through the footage of CC cameras installed around the oil depot. On this basis, when the police took the murder accused Kamta into custody and interrogated her, she told that while drinking alcohol on Saturday, Rahul had abused her, to take revenge of which he took her on the pretext of drinking alcohol.
First he drank alcohol and reached Nirala Nagar Railway Ground, where they started beating him with a belt, but because of the clothes he was not getting hurt. After this, he was stripped of his clothes and beaten with a belt, picked up an interlocking brick lying nearby and killed him by decapitating him.
After the murder, they reached the road on foot and then came home from there in an auto. DCP South said that action will be taken against both the accused and they will be produced in the court on Tuesday and sent to jail.
