Digital Desk, New Delhi. A shocking incident has come to light in Raibag town of Belagavi district of Karnataka. An elderly man took a three-year-old little boy to a bar and forced him to drink alcohol with him.
After this, questions are also being raised on the bar owner and employees that they allowed a minor child to enter the bar and also served him liquor. The incident took place at Pritam Bar and Restaurant.
The old man made the child sit with him and made him drink alcohol. The people present in the bar were surprised to see this, but no one tried to stop him immediately.
People got angry after the video went viral
The matter came to light when a person present in the bar made a video of the entire incident. He posted this video on social media. After this it rapidly went viral.
Seeing the video, anger spread among the people. Many people strongly condemned the negligence of the bar and the actions of the old man. This video reached thousands of people on social media within no time.
It is clearly visible in the video how small the child is and how dangerous it can be to give him alcohol. People say that the bar staff should have stopped it immediately, but they did nothing.
Excise department showed strictness in the matter
The Excise Department has taken this matter seriously. Belagavi Division Joint Commissioner Fakirappa Chalwadi said that allowing minors to enter bars and serving them liquor is a clear violation of the law.
According to Times of India, Fakirappa Chalwadi has said that the legal age for drinking alcohol is 21 years and action will be taken against the bar owner soon. The department is investigating the bar and licensing rules will also be examined. If the bar has broken the rules, punishment is certain.
What does the law say?
Under the Juvenile Justice Act 2015, the punishment for giving intoxicants to a child is very strict. If a person gives alcohol to a child without doctor's advice, he can be punished with imprisonment of up to seven years and a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh.
