In Sonbhadra Ramlila, Ravana lost his vision after being hit by an arrow, case registered under SC/ST Act.

During the staging of Ramleela in Khaira village of Shahganj police station area, Sunil Kumar, playing the role of Ravana, got seriously injured in one eye by the arrow of Naitik Pandey, playing the role of Shri Ram. Sunil has lost his eyesight as a result of this incident and is undergoing treatment in Varanasi.
In this case, a dispute has arisen between the organizer and the victim regarding medicine and treatment. On the complaint of the victim's brother Shivmalal, the police have registered a case against Naitik Pandey and organizer Ramsanehi Singh on charges of violating SC/ST Act and threatening to kill.
Shivmalal told in the complaint given to the police that he belongs to the Scheduled Caste. On 13 November 2025 at 12:30 am, his brother Sunil Kumar was playing the role of Ravana in Ramlila organized in Khaira village. During this time Naitik Pandey was playing the role of Shri Ram.
During the staging, Naitik Pandey, out of malice and jealousy, fired an arrow, due to which the arrow hit Sunil in the eye. Due to this injury, water and blood started flowing from Sunil's eyes. Shivmalal alleged that organizers Ramsanehi and Naitik Pandey carried out this incident as part of a conspiracy.
On November 14, Shivmalal went to Ramsanehi and Naitik Pandey and said that the artists were injured during the performance, so they should get treated. On this, the accused used caste related words and threatened to kill them. After this, Shivmalal informed the incident at Shahganj police station. The accused were called to the police station, but no action was taken. Sunil is currently undergoing treatment in Varanasi and his eyesight has not yet returned.
Police station head Ram Singhasan Sharma said that a case has been registered in the matter and the investigation process has been started. This incident is not only a case of serious injury but also highlights the issue of gross negligence. The police is investigating the matter seriously and appropriate action will be taken against the culprits.
