Baramulla Police has claimed that more arrests are possible based on the investigation.
Jagran correspondent, Srinagar. Police in North Kashmir's Baramulla district have claimed to have arrested four drug smugglers.
Acting on a specific information, the district police set up a checkpoint at Ogmuna, Kunjar, a police officer said. According to the officer, during the search, four people coming from Karahama towards Ogmunna were seen approaching the checkpoint in a suspicious manner.
Seeing the police party, all four tried to run away from the spot; However, the policemen on duty tactfully stopped and arrested all of them. They have been identified as Mohammad Amin Rather son of Abdul Khaliq Rather, resident of Karhama; Furkan Ahmed Lone son of Manzoor Ahmed Lone, resident of Mirchipora, Tangmarg; Mohammad Salim Lone son of Ghulam Nabi Lone, resident of Mirchipora, Tangmarg and Maroof Ahmed Bhat son of Bashir Ahmed Bhat, resident of Panditpora Bala.
During the search, a huge quantity of drugs were recovered from them. A case has been registered against all four in Police Station Kunjar under FIR number 08-2026 and investigation is ongoing.
