State Bureau, New Delhi. In the new year, 6,476 poor people of Delhi will be able to get the keys of their flats in Savda Ghevra. The government has started preparations for this. Delhi Government has sanctioned Rs 27.50 crore for the repair of 2500 of these vacant flats, so that they can be made habitable.

After this, work will be done in others in the next phase, while there is no need to get work done in many flats. Community facilities are being developed in the existing EWS residential colonies of Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB).

Apart from a dispensary or hospital, the process of developing facilities like local shopping centre, service market, milk booth and three-wheeler and taxi stands is going on for the slum dwellers. Delhi Government has developed Savada Ghevra EWS Residential Colony on approximately 37.81 acres of land. A total of 7,620 flats have been built here from 2012 to 2018 to 2020. These flats were built under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) scheme.

Out of which 6,476 flats are currently vacant. 100 percent sewerage network is available in the colony, which is considered an important achievement from the point of view of urban infrastructure. According to Delhi Government, facilities like bus stop, community hall, post office, health centre, school, Anganwadi center and Basti Vikas Kendra are available within a radius of 1.5 kilometers of Savda Ghevra.

At the same time, metro station, police post, police station and additional educational and health institutions are available within a radius of 3 kilometers. Here, 39 parks, two underground water tanks, booster station and overhead water tank and four slopes have been built in 22 thousand square meters. One of the two primary schools has been constructed here.

Previous governments did not show interest in settling the poor in Savada Ghevra, due to which most of the flats are in need of repair. Now Delhi government has started preparations to settle the poor here.

For that, basic facilities are being made available rapidly here. Our government's thinking is not limited to just providing permanent houses, rather we want poor families to be settled in such colonies.

Where all the basic facilities related to education, health, sanitation, water supply, green area and livelihood are available to them together. Our effort is to provide housing to the poor here in the new year.
