Jagran correspondent, Ghaziabad. Under the joint campaign of Dainik Jagran and Indian Medical Association (IMA) Prahar on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), an awareness program was organized at Gaur Cascade Society of Rajnagar Extension on Sunday.

In the program, Dr. Navneet Verma made the people living in the society aware about the dangers of misuse of antibiotics, various causes of AMR and the side effects of AMR. During the program, Dr. Navneet Verma also answered people's questions based on various health problems including the correct use of antibiotics.

Dr. Navneet Verma started the program by telling people about AMR and the correct way to use antibiotics. During the awareness program, people asked various questions related to the use of antibiotics, variations, quality and difference in medicines, which Dr. Navneet answered and satisfied them.

Dr. Navneet said that first of all it is important to pay more attention to health than taste. In today's time, people are eating out-of-season fruits and vegetables for their taste. Due to which any infection becomes easily affected due to weak immune system. In such situations, doctors prescribe antibiotics and when antibiotics are not used properly, the risk of antimicrobial resistance increases. Viruses and bacteria become more effective. In such a situation, the doctor needs to give a more heavy dose.

To stay healthy, first of all eating local food and seasonal fruits and vegetables is most beneficial for health. Do exercise and pranayam, limit sugar intake. If you get infected in any way, antibiotics are required, then take the medicines as per the time and duration prescribed by the doctor. Do not stop taking the medicine when you feel comfortable with one dose. Complete the dosage prescribed by the doctor.

Also, dispose of any leftover antibiotics properly. If not disposed of properly, the risk of resistance also increases. Do not pour leftover medicines directly into the drain and do not throw the tablets in regular garbage. Either return the medicines to the place from where they were taken. Medicines can be returned to the hospital. As much as it is important to use antibiotics correctly, it is equally important to dispose of them properly.
