PTI, Mumbai. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday said India has signed nine free trade agreements (FTAs) with 38 countries, which will give the country's goods access to nearly two-thirds of global markets.
Addressing the EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards ceremony in Mumbai, Goyal said these agreements will help Indian goods, services, agriculture and fishery products and labour-intensive sectors access new markets.
He said that every country wants to make a trade agreement with India. Chile wants to finalize the FTA this week. We are starting FTA negotiations with Canada, hopefully when Prime Minister Mark Carney arrives here on Monday.
He said India should be able to finalize the terms of reference and begin FTA negotiations with Canada.
