Jagran correspondent, Dhanbad. Railways Implement Fare Hike After Midnight Today: Railway fare became costlier after 12 midnight on Thursday. For general tickets from Dhanbad to Howrah, you will have to pay Rs 5 more, Delhi Rs 25, Mumbai Rs 40 and Chennai Rs 35 more.
From Dhanbad to Patna, you will have to pay six rupees, Ranchi three and to reach Jammu, you will have to pay Rs 40 more. The most expensive ticket will be for passengers going to Goa. General fare to reach Vasco da Gama will now be charged Rs 55 more.
The new fare will be effective on reserved tickets booked from Friday. Railways has increased rail fares for the second time in 179 days. Rail fares were increased on July 1 this year.
Sleeper fares were increased by one paisa per kilometer and AC fares were increased by two paisa per kilometre. This time the fare from sleeper to AC of Mail-Express has been increased by two paise per kilometer.
Rent will be collected in round figures
Fares will be collected from passengers in round figures. That means if there is an increase of Rs 22, 23 or 24 then Rs 25 will be charged from the passenger. If the last digit of the fare is one or six, it will be rounded down to a round figure by one rupee. If the fare is increased by Rs 11 or 16, then only Rs 10 or 15 will be charged. On turning 51, only Rs 50 will have to be paid.
Passengers of passenger trains will not have to pay increased fare for 215 kilometers.
No change in reservation fee and superfast charge
The remaining increased fare will not be charged on tickets booked before December 26.
