The company which was given the work of installing doors in six hospitals of Delhi installed poor quality doors without fireproof doors. The department has blacklisted the company for two years. During this period the company will not be able to do any work in the Public Works Department. Along with this, the company's payments have also been banned. Delhi government plans to build seven new ICU hospitals, which will have a facility of 6836 beds. Of these, work on six hospitals except Kirari was started in the year 2020-21. The construction work of almost all the hospitals is in the final stage.
Looks like non insulated metal fire door
Officials say that non-insulated metal fire doors are installed in ICU hospitals. Which are fire retardant, so that the safety of patients can be ensured in case of fire. The contractor was also given the work to install similar doors in Shalimar Bagh, Sultanpuri, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Sarita Vihar and Raghuveer Nagar ICU Hospital.
The contractor also provided the doors and installed them in the hospitals. But, when the quality of the doors was checked, it was found that the doors installed by the agency were not fireproof. Their quality is also bad. The stickers that were placed on the doors to ensure their quality were also not present on them, so that no one could know anything about the quality of the doors. Officials say that a similar door has also been mentioned in the terms of the tender.
But, the agency committed fraud and supplied poor quality doors. Therefore, the agency has been blacklisted and a complaint has been lodged against it in the police station. Now orders have been given to investigate this matter seriously.
Construction of these hospitals remained in controversy since the beginning
The construction of these seven hospitals was started in view of the Corona epidemic at that time. The then AAP government had claimed that the hospitals would be ready within 6 months. But it has not been ready even after five years.
There was controversy regarding these from the beginning because the day the officer awarded the work of giving the work of these seven hospitals to the companies. He was due to retire on the same day. The then Bharatiya Janata Party had raised questions about this and the ACB investigation is currently going on in this matter.
The previous government was not able to decide the future
After the end of Corona yesterday, the construction work of these hospitals had slowed down. The previous government had not even given budget to these hospitals for the last two years and the government was not even able to decide how to run them.
After the coming of the BJP government in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had announced to start these as ICU beds only. Since then the work has gained some momentum and this time some funds have also been released in the budget for their construction and completion.
