Producer's reply to those calling 'The Kerala Story 2' propaganda

Entertainment Desk, New Delhi. Amid the controversy over the trailer of 'The Kerala Story 2' releasing on February 27, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah reacted to the film being termed as propaganda and said that the film does not insult Kerala or its people.
The film is being severely criticized
The trailer of the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster original has drawn strong criticism from filmmakers, political leaders and social groups, prompting High Court notices and sparking fresh debates on freedom of speech, communal harmony and the role of cinema in public.

The producer gave this answer
When the film was called propaganda, producer Amritlal Shah responded by saying that the film does not target the state of Kerala or its people. He said, 'Kerala is God's own country. We are not behind Kerala and the film tries to highlight what they call an evil that must be faced. We want this evil to end from that state as soon as possible.
Responding to those who said the film is divisive, Shah said the team is solid. He said, 'No matter how much you speak ill of us, we will keep telling the stories of these women. You can call it propaganda if you want, we stand with the victims and will continue to demand justice for them.
He further warned against ignoring difficult truths. He said, 'If you keep ignoring the problems of your state, they will get bigger'.
Answer given to those who spread propaganda
Regarding those who called the film propaganda, he said, 'Unless something like this happens in your own home, you will not believe it. When I expressed my views in 2014, many people called me a liar. But today, the truth is in front of everyone.
'The Kerala Story 2' revisits the themes of religious conversion and trapping of innocent girls, with the story spanning across Kerala, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The first film sparked debate on these topics across the country.
The film's official synopsis reveals that it will deal with what the makers say is a larger agenda of manipulative conversion. The film stars Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia and Aishwarya Ojha in lead roles.
