Both teams got 1-1 point

Sports Desk, New Delhi. A big upheaval has been seen in the T20 World Cup 2026. Australia is out of the Super-8, while Zimbabwe has made it to the next round. On Tuesday, the match between Ireland and Zimbabwe was washed out due to rain. In such a situation, both the teams have been given 1-1 point. Zimbabwe had already won its 2 matches, hence the team had 5 points. On the other hand, Australia had got only 1 win in its last 3 matches.

Australia started the T20 World Cup 2026 with a win. In its first match, the Kangaroo team defeated Ireland by 67 runs. However, after this Australia suffered back to back defeats. Zimbabwe defeated Australia by 23 runs. On Monday, Sri Lanka defeated Australia by 8 wickets. After this, Australia's Super-8 hopes got a setback. They were dependent on the results of other teams to make it to the Super-8.

If Australia wanted to make it to the Super-8, it was necessary for Zimbabwe to lose both its matches. This would have left the team with only 4 points. On the other hand, the Kangaroo team could go to the Super-8 by defeating Oman comprehensively in its last group match.

Talking about Zimbabwe's performance in the T20 World Cup 2026, the team has not faced defeat so far. First of all, Zimbabwe gave a crushing defeat to Oman by 8 wickets. After this, the team captained by Sikandar Raza surprised everyone by defeating Australia.

As soon as Australia was out, it was also decided which team India would face in the Super-8. The Indian team will face South Africa on 22 February at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After this, Surya and Company will face Zimbabwe on 26th February. This match will be held at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Men in Blue will face West Indies in the last match of Super-8. This clash will take place at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
