Jagran correspondent, Muzaffarpur. Irregularities are being taken during the drain construction work on Mithanpura Chowk-Bela Imli Chowk road. Work is not being done as per standard. Security measures are being ignored. Due to this people are becoming victims of accidents. The sensor is working arbitrarily, ignoring the convenience of the people. During construction, drain water is being poured onto the road.
Due to this, not only the road but also the surrounding streets and neighborhoods have been water logged. Due to this people are facing a lot of problems. After receiving continuous complaints from the people, Mayor Nirmala Devi and Municipal Commissioner Rituraj Pratap Singh on Friday, along with engineers, conducted a surprise inspection of the outlet drain being built from Mithanpur Chowk to Bela Imli Chowk by BUDCO at a cost of Rs 3 crore.
When the quality of the work was checked with the help of Municipal Corporation engineers, it was found that the work was not as per the standard. After this, the Mayor expressed his displeasure and reprimanded the sensor present at the work site and the assistant engineer of BUDCO.
Not only this, he directed to check the quality of the ongoing work. Instructed to cordon off the construction site. The Municipal Commissioner gave the responsibility of monitoring the ongoing work to the Municipal Manager Alok Kumar Gupta and directed to give progress report of the daily work.
During the inspection, the Mayor said that the work is being done arbitrarily by the inspector. The construction work was found not to be as per the standards. The officials have been instructed to conduct a detailed investigation of the ongoing work and take necessary action against the culprits.
He said that the way work is being done ignoring safety standards, a major accident can happen at any time. If any untoward incident happens, BUDCO officials and contractors will be responsible for it.
By writing a letter to Budco, it was informed about the irregularities.
After the inspection, the Municipal Commissioner has written a letter to BUDCO saying that during the construction of drain from Mithanpura Chowk to Imli Chowk by BUDCO in Ward No. 48, the culvert was found to be closed unnecessarily. Due to this, water logging situation was found on Ward No. 49 and the road from Mithanpura Chowk to Imli Chowk.
Also, the alignment of the drain under construction by BUDCO in Imli Chowk Post Office Road in Ward No. 49 was not found correct and a pit has been dug and left for more than 15-20 days in front of the branch road emerging from the main road for the construction of culvert. Due to lack of safety standards at both the above places, accidents are often happening and there is a danger to life and property. There is resentment among the local people due to this.
