ISIS took responsibility for Islamabad mosque attack (Photo- Reuters)
Digital Desk, New Delhi. On Friday, a suicide attack took place during Friday prayers in a Shia mosque in Pakistan's capital Islamabad. According to Dawn news report, so far 33 people have died and 169 people have been injured in this attack.
Islamic State group ISIS has taken responsibility for this attack in Islamabad. This information was given by SITE Intelligence Group on Friday. The attack is the deadliest attack in Islamabad since the Marriott Hotel bombing in 2008.

According to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadist groups, "As soon as he reached the inner gate of the mosque, a man seeking martyrdom detonated his explosive vest among the Shia community, killing and injuring a large number of people."
Attacked during Friday prayers
The blast occurred on Friday during Friday prayers, when the mosque was packed with worshippers. ISIS, which claimed responsibility for this suicide attack, said that a terrorist targeted the worshipers and detonated an explosive jacket. During this period a large number of people died and got injured.
News agency AFP quoted sources as saying that the attacker was stopped at the gate and blew himself up.
