ISRO's 'Bahubali' LVM-3 will take to space today (Photo-X)

PTI, Sriharikota. ISRO's 'Baahubali' rocket LVM-3 is all set to take the American satellite Bluebird- Block-2 into space. The Indian Space Agency said on Tuesday that the 24-hour countdown has started for this launch under the LVM-3 M6 mission.

The mission was scheduled to launch at 8:54 pm, but now it will take off with a delay of 90 seconds. ISRO confirmed this and said that there was a possibility of debris in the flight path of Bahubali rocket or collision with other satellites, due to which the flight was delayed.

LVM3 India's most powerful rocket

Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (LVM 3) is India's most powerful rocket. Therefore this rocket is also called Bahubali rocket.

According to the plan of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the LVM-3 M6 rocket will take off from the Sriharikota space center on Wednesday at 8:54 am on a space journey with the new generation American communication satellite Bluebird- Block-2. This will be the sixth operational flight of LVM3.

Bluebird Block-2 is expected to separate from the rocket about 15 minutes after launch. ISRO said that weighing 6,100 kg, this satellite will be the heaviest payload to be launched into Low Earth Orbit (LEO) from the LVM3 rocket. Prior to this, the heaviest payload was the LVM-3-M5 communications satellite CMS-03. It was launched by ISRO on November 2.

Bluebird Block-2 will be launched by ISRO's commercial arm New Space India Limited (NSIL). For this, American company AST Spacemobile (AST & Science, LLC) had signed an agreement with NSIL.

The mission is being operated under a commercial agreement between NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) (the commercial arm of ISRO) and US-based AST Spacemobile (AST & Science, LLC).

The satellite is designed to provide high-speed cellular broadband directly to smartphones worldwide, making it part of the global LEO constellation for mobile connectivity.

AST Spacemobile is developing the first space-based cellular broadband network, which will allow smartphones to connect directly to satellites for both commercial and government purposes. This network will support 4G and 5G voice and video calls, messaging, streaming and data services anywhere in the world.
