Digital Desk, New Delhi. Air pollution in NCR including the capital Delhi has reached dangerous levels. Expressing concern over this matter, the Supreme Court on Monday stressed on issuing guidelines on air pollution. The Supreme Court said that it will issue effective orders, which can be implemented. Apart from this, the court said that it will hear the cases related to severe air pollution in Delhi-NCR on December 17.

Speaking on the issue of pollution, CJI Surya Kant said, 'We know the problem and let us pass orders that can be followed. There are some instructions which can be implemented forcefully. People have their own lifestyle in these urban metropolises, but what about the poor people? Those who are most troubled by this.

Earlier during the last hearing, a bench of the Supreme Court had said that the petition on air pollution cannot be treated as a “normal” matter to be listed only during the worst-hit winter months and had said that such hearings would be held twice a month to find a solution to the problem.

Delhi's air quality remains in 'severe' category

Despite the implementation of Group-IV restrictions, Delhi's air remains in the 'severe' category on Monday (December 15). According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's average air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 450 at 10 am today. The same situation continues for the third consecutive day. There is no hope of further relief for a day or two. On the other hand, today there was the densest fog of the season.

Visibility level was up to 50 meters at IGI Airport while zero was recorded at Safdarjung. Today's minimum temperature is likely to be 10 degrees while the maximum is likely to be 24 to 25 degrees.
