Jagran correspondent, Jamshedpur. Iron city Jamshedpur is once again witnessing the loyalty of dogs and their amazing discipline. The 79th, 80th and 81st dog show organized by the Kennel Club of India (Jamshedpur) has started at the Archery Ground of JRD Tata Sports Complex.
This event is not just a demonstration, but is the biggest test of their rigorous training for 326 dogs who came from every corner of the country.
How is the 'tough' test of dogs conducted?
If you think that dog shows are only for beauty, you are wrong. Here the dogs are divided into different age groups (Class-1, 2 and 3). As the class grows, the rules of discipline become more stringent.
MD of Tata Steel did the grand inauguration
The three-day dog show was formally inaugurated by TV Narendran, CEO cum MD, Tata Steel, by hoisting the Kennel Club flag and unveiling the championship cup. In his address, he said that the dog show is one of the most prestigious and favorite events of the city, which provides a unique platform to dog lovers.

Welcome with bouquet and amazing feat
The beginning of the show was very interesting. Trained dogs of Tata Steel and Tata Motors presented the bouquet to the chief guest with a tight grip on his teeth. After this, the dogs forced the audience to sit tight by showing courageous acts like crossing the hurdles (hurdle jump) and 'breaking the wall'.
This tradition continues since 1978
Kennel Club Chairman Ruchi Narendran, while highlighting the glorious history of the club, said that the club was established in 1977 and dog shows are being organized continuously since 1978. This club of Jamshedpur has hosted the dog show twice at the national level so far (2014 and 2025). This time, dogs of 326 different species from across the country are taking part in the competition, which are impressing the judges with their intelligence and agility.
Special arrangements for dog lovers
Special stalls related to dog health and food have also been set up at the venue. The Kennel Club has made excellent arrangements for seating for spectators and a 'grooming area' for the dogs.
Local citizens say that this event not only provides entertainment, but is also a powerful medium to make people aware against animal cruelty and increase love for dogs. The winners will be awarded the prestigious title of 'Best in Show' in the final rounds to be held over the next two days.

Jamshedpur Dog Show is getting marks on these parameters
Obeying the command: turning left and right at the handler's signal and stopping. Focus test: standing at a distance and waiting for the owner's call and approaching correctly as soon as the signal is given. Gait: the manner of walking in the field and balance of body structure. Reaction: how calm and concentrated the dog remains amidst the crowd and noise.
Indigenous dogs compete with foreign breeds
The special thing about this dog show is that not only foreign breeds like German Shepherd, Labrador and Golden Retriever, but also dogs of rare species remain the center of attraction. A team of expert judges closely inspect each dog's teeth structure, bone strength and shine of their coat.
The coordination between dog handlers and their owners during the competition is evident, which shows that it takes years of hard work to create a better dog.
