Under Jharkhand civic elections, councilors were elected unopposed in 38 wards of 16 civic bodies.
State Bureau, Ranchi. Under the municipal elections, there are 38 wards of 16 bodies from where the election for ward councilor was held unopposed. Since only one candidate was in the fray after nomination or scrutiny of nomination papers and withdrawal of nomination, he was declared elected unopposed by the election officials.
The election officials have given this information to the State Election Commission. Due to unopposed elections, voting will not take place in these wards.
Among the wards of municipal bodies in which elections were held unopposed, two in Adityapur Municipal Corporation, three in Medininagar Municipal Corporation, five in Sahibganj Municipal Council, two in Dumka Municipal Council, one in Ramgarh Municipal Council, three in Chakradharpur Municipal Council, three in Mihijam Municipal Council, two in Kapali Municipal Council, one in Godda Municipal Council, five in Jugsalai Municipal Council, two in Chatra Municipal Council, two in Rajmahal Nagar Panchayat, Chakulia Nagar There are three wards in the Panchayat, one in Hussainabad Nagar Panchayat, one in Seraikela Gunar Panchayat, two wards in Jamtara Nagar Panchayat.
Earlier, 38 candidates for the post of Mayor and President and 191 candidates for Ward Councilor withdrew their nominations. After this, 560 candidates were left for the post of Mayor and President and 5,766 candidates for Ward Councilor i.e. a total of 6,326 candidates were left. Of these, due to unopposed elections in 38 wards, 5,728 candidates are left in the fray for ward councillor.
Thus, the fate of a total of 6,288 candidates will be decided in the voting to be held on February 23. Let us tell you that after scrutiny of nomination papers, a total of 424 applications were canceled. Of these, 76 nomination papers were for the posts of Mayor and President, while 348 nomination papers were for Ward Councilor. 647 and 6,305 candidates had filed nominations for Mayor, President and Ward Councilor respectively.
