Jagran correspondent, Ranchi. The effect of cold is increasing rapidly in the state. Due to the activation of north-westerly winds, there is severe cold throughout Jharkhand. Meteorological Center Ranchi has issued a cold wave warning in 11 districts including Ranchi. Yellow alert has been implemented for these areas, which will remain in place till 8:30 am on December 7.
Abhishek Anand, in-charge director of the meteorological center, informed that on December 5 and 6, cold wave conditions may occur at isolated places in Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Simdega, Gumla, Lohardaga, Chatra, Latehar, Palamu and Garhwa districts.
He said that people should be careful in the morning and night, because sudden drop in temperature can affect health.
Minimum temperature in Kanke 5.2 degrees
Kanke, adjacent to the capital, recorded a minimum temperature of 5.2 degrees Celsius on Friday, which was one of the coldest places in the state. Here the morning wind blew at a speed of 4.2 kilometers per hour, which further increased the chill. People in Ranchi and surrounding areas are also facing bone-chilling cold.
The temperature will drop further in the coming days
According to meteorologists, a further drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius may be recorded in the minimum temperature in the state in the next three days. After this, a slight increase in temperature is expected in the next three days.
During this period, there is also a possibility of fog increasing in the morning and evening, due to which drivers will need to be extra cautious. The Meteorological Department has advised that small children, elderly and sick people need special protection during cold morning and evening.
It is necessary to use heavy clothing, hat, gloves and socks. The mercury is continuously falling in the state and the effect of cold wave is now being felt in cities as well as villages. According to the Meteorological Department, this is the first major cold wave, which may become more effective in the coming days.
